Meet Dr. Desio
Joseph G. Desio, DDS
Practicing dentistry, I feel as though I have been given a gift that, unlike many other gifts, deepens and becomes richer over time. My gift is the opportunity to know, work with, and hopefully improve the health and quality of life of literally thousands of people in my lifetime. I love connecting with families in our community, and am grateful for the opportunity to give them beautiful, healthy smiles.
Education and Continuing Education
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arizona and a DDS from Georgetown University. In addition to these studies, I am also very active in continuing education courses and seminars.
As a part of my continuing education, I have completed the Pankey Curriculum and am a Preferred Invisalign® Provider. I also have more than 100 hours of continuing education for implants and several hundred additional hours of courses related to complex restorative case management. My patients benefit from my continual, lifelong learning with applied clinical experience, and can trust that they will be given the most cutting edge comprehensive care.
Dental Experience
I have the opportunity to positively influence the health, quality of life and general well-being of many people every day. I enjoy getting to know each patient personally, and after 22 years in practice, have made lifelong friends through my work.
I learn something new every day from every patient, whether clinical, behavioral, or personal. Over time this approach allows us to use the most appropriate combination of our knowledge skills and experience to provide the patient with optimum care.
My team and I work very diligently to achieve the best results possible, and our patients truly appreciate and value our efforts. It is very satisfying to see a patient leave our office with a relieved and happy smile!
Family and Community
I am originally from New York, NY, and have lived in Alexandria for the past 18 years. My wife, Melanie, and I have two teenage children named Liz and James. We also have an Airedale terrier at home named Rocket. When I am not at work, I enjoy tennis, gardening, and being an avid fan of Liz' and James' high school sports.
In my practice and in my life, I believe in serving those less fortunate than me. For the past 15 years, I have been involved with the organizations Children of Chernobyl, Northern VA Dental Clinic, and Mission of Mercy. I feel great knowing that others can benefit from my skills.
