Meet Dr. Herrmann
Henry Herrmann, DMD
I have the greatest job in the world! With my help, patients leave our practice happier and with bigger, whiter smiles than when they walked in. I get to work with a super, smart, happy team who knows how to make each patient feel welcomed and appreciated. It's a good life!
Education
For my dental education, I received the following certificates:
- Bachelor of Science in chemistry, Emory University, 1976
- DMD, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, 1981
- General Practice Residency, University of Washington Hospital, 1982
Continuing Education
I take many hours of continuing education each year in order to provide my patients with the best dental services possible. I have completed continuum courses at the Pankey Institute, a mini–residency in Endo at UNC, and both regular and advanced hands-on endodontic courses with Dr. Buchanan. I am also involved with an ongoing study club in occlusion. These studies benefit my patients because not only am I up-to-date, but they also keep me enthusiastic and excited about dentistry! I am also the author of two journal articles and a textbook chapter.
Dental Experience
I have been a dentist for 26 years, and I love forming relationships with all types of interesting patients through my work. My profession lets me create excellent results with the knowledge and skills I have acquired through the years. Each day provides me with different intellectual and technical challenges, and I am always anxious to do my job better.
One of the best part of my job is discovering, along with the patient, the underlying factors that are causing the patient's symptoms. The patient and I can then come up with a plan to address these issues. My job isn't just about giving people a comfortable or beautiful smile; it's about helping them live healthy lives, and avoid pain or discomfort in the future!
Family and Community
I grew up in Arlington, and am proud to have raised my family here. My wife is an educator, and my son is getting his Ph.D. in education from Boston College. I have also been blessed with a two-year-old grandson!
In my spare time, I am an avid whitewater kayaker. I also enjoy canoeing, hiking, gardening, cooking, museums, and travel. I am very active at church through committees, ushering, and teaching Sunday School. I am also on the board of Mt. Olivet Foundation, and help distribute student loans and grants. My dental charity activities have included missions to Jamaica, Give Kids a Smile Day, and providing services for underserved patients through Northern Virginia Family Services.
